South West Trip Day 14 Wednesday May 17, 2017

Today starts in Fernley, NV
And finishes in Home, San Jose, CA

.

Places Visited Along The Way, Photos, and Notes
Last night in Fernley, NV I was watching the weather report
with trepidation.  The forecast was for morning rain
all the way through Sacramento
Not what I wanted to hear, having just spent a long, cold, wet day
But, when I woke up in the morning, the sky was clear
although it was definitely on the cold side
Heavy leather gloves, some challenging roads,
and traffic most of the way
Sorry, no photos today
Normally, I like to stop every 50 miles or so
and just walk around a bit
Sometimes, the paucity of places dictates longer stretches
That was the case yesterday, but it needn't be that way today
I mounted up and I've got to say
I was like an old horse heading toward the barn
I wanted to be home already
I rode through Sparks and through Reno
without even slowing
Into California and over the mountains.
It was rather cold.  Snow on the ground down to about 5,000 feet.
I rode over Donner Pass and Emigrant Gap at up to 7.000
It was really cold.  Not freezing, but cold nonetheless.
Let me tell you, 42 degrees at 65 MPH is chilly!
Having gotten over the worst, I stopped in Colfax
for a cup of coffee and to try to warm up a bit
Back on the bike and heading homeward
Through Sacramento, second stop was in
Dixon
for gas and to buy some fruit at
Pedrick Produce
Another 100 miles or so and I was home
I just had ridden three stretches of almost 100 miles each
I was tired and very happy to be Home
